What's Wrong With Homosexuality?

Thousands of people in the United States are living in sin by being gay. The problem is so many people are okay with this. There is a growing movement in America to gives homosexuals marriage rights, and it's just not right. Homosexuality is a sin, and it must be pointed out and rectified lovingly.

A Logical Point

Look at nature. Humans are the only gay animals. Shouldn't that tell us something? Sure, two male dogs may hump each other, but pretty soon they'll get the point that it's not working, and they'll quit. That doesn't mean they're not gay. Some fish can change sex naturally when there is a lack of the opposite sex. That doesn't mean they're gay.

Allow me to be frank. Anatomically speaking, humans are . . . puzzle peaces that fit together in a certain way. Male fits with female, but female doesn't fit with female, and male doesn't fit with male. It just doesn't work when two of the same sex have intercourse—no children can be produced. That is the natural goal of sex: to procreate. The entire purpose is defeated when same-sex couples have sex.

I've had someone tell me homosexuality was nature's way of cutting down on population growth. This isn't at all possible, because not only is homosexuality unnatural, but populations do not cut down on their own growth. The growth of a population is slowed by disease, predators, famine, and things like that. Species don't limit their own growth. It's always done by an outside force.

A Biblical Point

Design. So why were we designed like puzzle peaces? It was God's plan from the very beginning. Genesis 2:24 says,

"Therefore man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh."
It says man is to be with woman. Perhaps you've heard the saying, "God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve." As dumb as that sounds, it's true. God's intention was for a man and a woman to be together—any other combination would be a perversion of His design.

Disapproval. We have examples from all periods in the Bible of how God does not approve of homosexuality. Let's begin before the Mosaic law was given. The cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because of this sin. According to Genesis 19, two men (angels) came to Lot's house in Sodom. Lot treated them as the guests they were—he fed them, gave them a place to sleep. But before they could lay down, the men of Sodom surrounded the house and demanded that the visitors come out so they could "know them carnally"—so they could have sex with them. Lot followed the traditions of that area and time and protected his guests, offering instead his two daughters to the men outside—but they insisted that they wanted the angels, and the angels eventually had to strike them with blindness to get them to stop. Lot and his daughters and his wife fled the city the next morning, and God destroyed the city with fire and brimstone. Thus, it is quite obviously that God does not approve of homosexuality. Granted, they were certainly sinning in lust, too, but it was a homosexual lust, which God did not find pleasing.

Homosexuality is forbidden in the Old Law. Leviticus 18:22 says,

"You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination."
And Leviticus 20:13 says,
"If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them."
Homosexuality was clearly an abomination under the Mosaic Law, and the penalty was death. It was a serious offense. Deuteronomy 23:17 says,
"There shall be no ritual harlot of the daughters of Israel, or a perverted one of the sons of Israel."
First Kings 14:24 says,
"And there were also perverted persons in the land. They did according to all the abominations of the nations which the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel."
These verse mention "perverted" people. On the surface, this doesn't seem to mean specifically homosexuals, but according to the footnotes in my Bible, the Hebrew word implies just that:
Heb. qadesh, one practicing sodomy and prostitution in religious rituals
So these perverted people without doubt homosexuals. These people were simply not allowed in the camp of Israel. For other Old Testament verses regarding homosexuals, see Judges 19:10–20:48, 1 Kings 15:12, 1 Kings 22:46, 2 Kings 23:7, and Job 36:14. Note that the perverted people are always mentioned in a negative sense.

Please understand that the laws of the Old Testament are not ours to follow. The Old Law was nailed to the cross when Jesus died, and we now have a New Law to follow. We have studied these Old Testament examples in order to further understand the mind of God and His past rules. So now let's now move to the New Testament. Romans 1:24–27:

Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.
This verse describes men leaving women for men in "vile passions." Homosexuality is vile to God. Also, 1 Corinthians 6:9–10 says,
"Do you know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God."
Homosexuals are numbered among the unrighteous, who will not "inherit the kingdom of God," i.e., go to Heaven. Some say that the homosexuals refered to in these two verses are violent rapists, not just the regular, peaceful homosexual. This is not true, though, because the text gives no indication of that. It says men were involved in vile passions, not violent ones. And it says nothing about rape—it just says "homosexuals," so we must take that to be all-encompassing.

Some claim people are born gay—that they have no choice in the matter. This can't be, because from what we've just read, being gay is a sin, and God would not create someone in a sinful state like that. God would be damning that person to Hell from the very start. But, let's just assume for a second that it is true—let's assume gay people are born that way. They still have no excuse, because the Bible says it's wrong. When pregnant mothers drink alcohol while carrying the child, he or she will most likely grow to be seceptible to alcohol. Drinking is something that hard for said children to avoid when grown. Does that make it any less sinful? No. We all have some temptation that's stronger than all the others. Satan knows right where to hit us. If—for the sake of the argument—people are born gay, then that's their strong temptation. It's still a sin, but it is a temptation that is surmountable.

Homosexuals are loved by God just like everyone else, but their sin is not. They need to rid their lives of this sin if they want to please God and go to Heaven. Some homosexuals are accepted just the way they are at "churches" around the nation, and this scares me. Don't get me wrong—church is the place where homosexuals should be, but not so they can worship God without changing; rather, so they can learn the error of their ways and come out of their sins. God wants them to be a part of His family. We need to show homosexuals the Word so they can repent and turn to God. We need to do it lovingly and with care, because being accusatory about it will only make them mad. After all, every one of us sins—it's not like out sins are any worse than theirs. They are living in sin, though, so we need to guide them to the light.

If you, reader, are a homosexual, please hear my words and the love in my voice. God wants you to change and to come to Him. I won't pretend I know what it's like to be in your position, because I don't. I just know that the way to Heaven is through the Bible, through Jesus. The Bible says homosexuals cannot go to Heaven as such. They must come out of their sin and come to Jesus. If you need to do this, please do it soon. It may be hard, I'm sure, but God is on your side. He will help. Study your Bible and pray. God will be there for you. Remember: God loves you.
