About Song 14.3

Welcome to Song 14.3. This site is dedicated to sharing Christian lyrics and to spreading the Gospel of Christ. This directory is still under construction, but you can help.

The basics

The name. The "song" part comes from the fact that the main attraction of Song 14.3 is the songs—the index of hundreds of songs we can use to praise God. The "14.3" is from Revelation 14:3 (quoted in part in the title bar), which says, "They sang as it were a new song before the throne, before the four living creatures, and the elders; and no one could learn that song except the hundred and forty-four thousand who were redeemed from the earth." I prefer to say "Song 14.3" as "Song Fourteen-Three," not "Fourteen-dot-Three" or "Fourteen-point-Three," as even though a period is used in the place of a colon, it still refers to a scripture reference.

The mission. My ambitious goal is to collect the lyrics to every hymn and Christian song ever written and display them for the world. I know this is impossible, so I want to have the most comprehensive index of songs on the Internet. I also hope that through this site I can explain some common Bible questions with clarity and truth.

The picture. The photo on the title bar was taken with my camera phone at a place very dear to my heart called Camp Lu-Jo KISMIF. It is a church camp in southwest Oklahoma where I've had many a great experience, and even though I know intellectually that location has nothing to do with it, that's where I feel closest to God. 2717

The songs

The love of God and music. I love music. I love hearing music, I love singing music, I love writing music. Few things can stir the heart like music. Music is a big part of how we show adoration to God, and I am always delighted to learn a new song with which I can praise my Creator. It is because of my love of God and music that I have spent many hours putting together this directory of songs. It is as exhaustive as possible: virtually every religious song I know and many I don't. I've searched through songbooks, hymnals, and the internet to compile this list. There are songs of praise, songs of encouragement, fun songs, serious songs, heartfelt songs, songs of penance, songs of joy. I hope this directory can serve you in helping you glorify God.

The format. The songs are arranged in alphabetical order by title. I have listed them under the titles by which I know them, but when I come across alternate titles, I have tried to include them where possible. Each song is saved in a .txt file format for quick and easy loading and saving.

Lyrical differences. Not only do titles differ for some songs, but there are often minor lyrical differences—for example, the sheet music may be written one way, but I learned it a different way. I have tried to include any and all lyrical differences that I am aware of. I have notated them by placing them in brackets "[ ]" next to the word(s) they replace or change. The brackets are not to be confused with parentheses, which often denote pick-ups or optional words.

Scripture references. Oftentimes scriptures are set to music, and these become songs we sing frequently. Where possible, I have included the scripture reference for songs taken from the Bible.

Audio files. For some songs, I have included MIDI or MP3 files, as denoted by the labels and . These are, to my knowledge, perfectly legal, as I received them free of charge and can distribute them freely. The MP3s are not famous bands singing the songs, but rather people singing the songs in a worship setting. To save them, right-click and press "Save Link As..." (for Firefox) or "Save Target As..." (for Internet Explorer).

How to help. Can't find a song you're looking for here? Tell me and I'll see if I can add it. Or try searching on Google, and if you find it, let me know, and I can add it. Have you written a song lately that you want to get out to the world? E-mail me, and I'd be happy to add it. This is a directory for everybody's songs, not just the famous.

The articles

On the Departments page, under the link Bible Questions, you will find a number of articles that answer common questions about salvation and what's right and wrong according to the Bible. Each article comes straight from the God's Word, providing scripture references. I have tried to create a continuous and coherent flow in each article, so not every scripture reference is written out in its entirety. For those that aren't, however, if you hover your cursor over the reference, the verse(s) will appear in part (for Firefox) or in whole (for Internet Explorer).

The history

This website was created as "Animae Lupinae: Wolfish Souls" in the summer of 2001. Animae lupinae is Latin for wolfish souls, because the site was created to spread the Gospel (to help save souls) and wolves were and still are my favorite animal, so I had some wolf decor and drawings on the site, too, some of which can still be found here if you look hard enough. This website has gone through many a change and update since that first summer, but this is how it looks now, in its fourth version. Here are some previous editions of the main page (all links take you to the present versions of the pages):

The legalities

I do not own the rights to the vast majority of the songs in this index. Where possible, I have included the names of the lyricist, composer, arranger, and any other important names. By compiling these songs in a directory, I do not claim ownership of them, but I only wish to present these great Christian contributions to a wider audience in an easily accessible form. Thank you.

Unless otherwise stated, scripture is quoted from the the Holy Bible, New King James Version Copyright © 1997, 1990, 1985, 1983 by Thomas Nelson, Inc. This is a great version—easily readable, yet accurate—that I recommend for anyone.
