Soundings:

                Soundings is an annual journal published by OC's English department. It includes poetry, short stories, essays, photographs, drawings and other creative works submitted by students and alumni.

Submission Guidelines: Please read the below statements entirely.  If submissions do not adhere to guidelines, the editorial staff will not consider them.

1.   Soundings is a forum for the publication of creative works of fiction and non-fiction, photography, and art. 

2.   Please submit your work with the understanding that the editorial staff reserves the right to edit all entries for both length and content. 

3.   The Soundings staff will only accept electronic submissions emailed to the Soundings inbox: Soundings@oc.edu. 

4.   The text of the submission must be in a Microsoft Word document with nothing but the title, centered at the top, and the text of the work.  Please do not include page numbers, authorial signatures, or editorial notes. 

5.   E-mails sent to the Soundings inbox will identify the author through the name of the sender. Please send all submissions from your personal OC email account, with the exception of alumni. The subject line of the e-mail must be the title of the work.

6.   Please include only one work in each email. The text of the email should simply read: “Soundings submission included,” followed by the author’s last name. Attach the Word document, saved as the title of the work, and make sure the title is also in the subject line.

7.   You may submit up to eight (8) items to be considered for publication. Please limit the word count of prose submissions to 1000 words. 

8.   Because of the electronic format, the deadline for submissions will be 11:59 p.m. on the due date. The staff will not consider late submissions. 

Presentation of awards will occur at the unveiling event. All whose work is published in Soundings will receive an invitation to the event.

The Skinny Voice: 

The Skinny Voice, Rho Mu's monthly literary magazine encourages submissions from all OC students, not just English majors. If you're interested in submitting your works, please check do so according to the following guidelines:

1. It is a monthly publication undertaken by Oklahoma Christian’s chapter of the Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society.   
    
2. We publish short fiction, poetry, art, opinion pieces, book reviews, and movie reviews.
    
3. We accept submissions from all OC students in any of those genres. Be aware that not everything will be published.
    
4. Send submissions to theskinnyvoice@gmail.com. Please use your school e-mail address, or must include your name in the e-mail.
   
   VERY IMPORTANT: Place either the name you want printed or “anonymous” on your submission(s). If there is no name on the submission, we will publish the name from your e-mail. If you do not want your name printed, you must write “anonymous” on the submission. We will not allow you to publish work under another student’s name, please do not try it.
    
5. All art will be printed in black & white.
    
6. Short fiction should be under 1000 words. If it is longer, expect it to be serialized. If you have a preference as to where cuts should be, feel free to specify those. We will try to accommodate those wishes.
    
7. If we have many submissions that we would like to use, we may save some for later issues. We will try to notify you if that happens.
    
8. The deadlines are pending. Keep an eye out for announcements and updates.
    
9. Please send whatever you want, but realize that we secure the right to edit it for publication, or not to publish it at all.

NOTE: Any works published in The Skinny Voice should not be resubmitted to the annual Soundings publication. Soundings culls the “best of” this publication; works presented in the “best of” section are not eligible for prizes due to their previous publication.
